In Hurles v. Ryan, a case handled by the firm (Wall Street Journal, ABC News) a 9th Circuit panel granted our petition for writ of habeas corpus, holding that the trial judge in a capital murder matter became impermissibly enmeshed. The sentence of death has now been vacated. Congratulations to co-counsel, Denise Young.

A former Special Agent with the F.B.I. and a Naval Inteligence Analyst, Mrs. Behan attended, inter alia, the University of Chicago, and the University of Texas (Dallas) where she was working toward a Ph.D. in economics. Ms. Behan just completed her first year at the University of Arizona College of Law.
The firm welcomes Mihai Moldoveanu. Receiving his baccalaureate degree cum laude from the University of Washington, where he received four Phi Kappa Psi academic scholarships and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society, Mihai is a second year student at the University of Arizona College of Law. Mihai will serve as the firm’s Lead Communications Consultant. He is fluent in both French and Romanian, and formerly served at the Pima County Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Seattle City Attorney.
The firm welcomes consultant Jared Brown-Rabinowitz. A graduate of Stanford University, Mr. Brown-Rabinowitz attended the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate magna cum laude, serving on the Arizona Law Review. Thereafter, Jared served as a judicial clerk for the United States Department of Justice Executive Office of Immigration Review in New York. He will be working with us on complex trial and appellate issues.

The firm bids farewell to law clerk William Furnish. A graduate of Dartmouth College, William attended the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude in May 2009, serving as Articles Editor of the Arizona Law Review. William has accepted a clerkship in the chambers of Justice Andrew Herwitz, of the Arizona Supreme Court for 2009-2010. Thereafter, William as an associate at Latham Watkins New York office.

Farewell to Law Clerk and Summer Associate Matthew Warren who has accepted a position at Latham Watkins Chicago office. After attending Southern Illinois University and graduating Valedictorian, while serving as captain of their NCAA Division I wrestling team, Matthew accepted a full academic scholarship at the University of Arizona College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude in May 2008.
